Revolution and Terror

Revolution and Terror, as it was commonly known, is formally listed as "Revolution and Terror: Controversial Politics." It also is fondly called RevT by TA Will Harris, but no one else. It was formerly known simply as Controversial Politics, but the focus of the name changed over time. It is an awesome class offered at East. Since 2005 it has been taught by Andrew Sparling. The TA for terms I and II 2007 and 2008 is Will.

Some common events include:

Listening to songs such as "The National Anthem", "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised", "Hammerheads", "La Marsaillaise" and "Handlebars"
Watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes
Reading things that prohibit us from getting US green cards
Learning that the government isn't always right
Above all, learning that you should not trust the State Dept's definition of terrorism.
Being scared by quite a few movies (including ones in which British school children got chopping up by a meat grinder, and two in French)
    Learning French
    Learning Greek
    Learning Latin
    Learning German
    Learning Cyrillic (Russian)
Realizing that nearly every world problem can be blamed on the French
Will singing the French national anthem (and possibly Jesus Christ Superstar)
    Not watching V for Vendetta
    Receiving $3000 pencils
Taking a liking to Pink Floyd
    Buying Useless Sticky Notes

One of the most interesting classes offered at Duke East, it spawned fads such as changing outfits during class without anyone noticing, the BPUFL (Behind Pegram Ultimate Frisbee League), of which they finished last behind Algebra I during Term I '08. Andrew is known for his ability to quote any philosopher ever, hatred of Immanuel Kant, Canadian heritage, ability to tell it straight and funny, and incredible height. Will is known simply for his inferiority to Mark Marvelli, his Prius (which at one point held the llama), close friendships with Peter Sloan, Josh Parker, and Mark Marvelli, and very durable iPhone.
