Bassett

Bassett is the traditional fourth year dormitory for East Campus TIPsters, and also the coolest dorm. Bassett is usually solely occupied by fourth years, while the other dorms often mix second and third years fairly freely. However, at Term II in 2003, there were two third year girls in Bassett-- a very rare occurrence.

Edit: There are almost always third years in Bassett. Usually there will be one RAG that is half third years and half fourth years. It hasn't been all fourth years (or almost all fourth years) since the 90s.

Until 2005, Bassett was the only dorm with carpet, hence the 2004 Term 1/2 cheer, "We've got carpet, yes we do! We've got carpet, how 'bout you?" That cheer has now been replaced with "We've got Ninth street, yes we do! We've got Ninth street, how 'bout you?"

Edit: The Bassett carpet dorm cheer is almost as old as the Bassett-TiP relationship itself.

In Quadfest, Bassett's color is blue. Traditionally, Bassett was black because of a fourth year revolt around 1996 when the fourth years were separated. They like to throw quadfest and then be amazed when they win. Some second and third years note that Bassett has a suspiciously long winning streak in Quadfest, but fourth years counter that said streak is merely a proof of Bassett's superior talent, intellect, and Jello-snarfling skill.

Edit: Bassett's Quadfest colors were NEVER officially black. What's more, dorm colors for Quadfest change so often (relatively speaking) that it is inaccurate to claim a particular dorm is a particular color (e.g., Bassett is blue).

Edit: On the (too many) occasions when Bassett (or any other dorm) threw Quadfest, it was always done with the intention of losing. There was no being "amazed when they win." No dorm has never won Quadfest when attempting to throw it.

At Term I 2005, after several injuries and one trip to the ER, Bassett LOST Quadfest, resulting in teen angst and extreme frustration. Bassett maintains that they are the greatest and that a fascist regime plotted to (unfairly) remove Bassett from power all along (and there was also the huge infestation of three floors worth of Pegramites against hardly two floors of fourth years, and the fact that they skipped the final skit). They didn't even have to try and throw it.

At Term II 2005, despite losing almost all major events (dorm cheer, skit, entrance, etc.) Bassett dramatically redemed itself by winning Quadfest even with the Chubby Bunny incident that also resulted in a trip to the ER. Bassett blew away all rivals in the Scavenger Hunt (something like 650 to 200, due in part to aid from defecting disgruntled fourth years from Pegram who knew where their loyalites lay) and in most of the small events. "There's something they say about change... SOMETHINGS NEVER CHANGE!!"

Bassett's traditional chants are: "Doggy doggy doggy, woof woof woof!" and "how do we do it? Doggy style (from the back)!"

Also, during many of its long free times at term 1 2007, it is not uncommon to see a group of Tipsters (mostly fourth years) hanging out in the hallway, seemly enjoying blocking the traffic.

Unfortunatly, due to construction, Basset was not in use in 2006.

Edit by Caitlin: There was also a cheer during Term II 2005 that went "O-R-G-Y: what does that spell? Teamwork!" that certainly got them in trouble. It was a very funny chant though, and resulted in the OTHER chant of: "How do we do it? TiPpropriately!"
